What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It is a process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin (epidermal layer) by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face. Both microblading and a traditional tattoo reach the SAME levels of depth in the skin. Traditional tattoo methods involve the implant a thinner, water soluable pigments, while microblading, and other cosmetic tattoo procedures, involve the implant of thicker, glycerin based pigment. Because pigment is insoluble, they are designed to gently fade over time with your skin’s natural cell turnover. Ink, however, is soluble, so the body being 70% water “traps” ink in the dermal layers. Fading is desired overtime with the microblading process as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as the client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.

Brow Tinting VS Brow Microbalding?

While both processes serve to provide a sense of fullness and superior color for your eyebrows, it helps to know the differences. They are generally not considered in the same genre for salon services.

Tinting is non-invasive and deposits color to the hairs that you currently have. Tinting is temporary and done with salon-grade henna dye. Tinting can be done to both the EYEBROW and LASHES. There are some instances that the tint can also color the skin to provide a fuller brow. However, the tint on the skin only lasts a few days. Most clients come back every 4 weeks to get their lashes or brows tinted. The entire process for tinting usually takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.

Microblading is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 1-3 years. The initial microblading service can take up to 2 hours. The frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors including the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas.

Can Microblading be done while pregnant/breastfeeding?

NO. It is not recommended to receive any tattoo treatment while pregnant/breastfeeding.

Does the Microblading procedure hurt?

A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.

Are the studio and equipment safe?

Absolutely! We pride ourselves on having an immaculate and sterile studio space. We only use single-use, disposable needles, and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterward. Each station is thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.
